Terms and Conditions for Escape Mate 1. Participation at Own Risk By participating in our escape room experience, you acknowledge that you are doing so at your own risk. Escape Mate will not be held liable for any injuries sustained during the game. While we take every precaution to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we are not responsible for accidents or injuries that may occur. Participants agree to hold Escape Mate harmless from any liability resulting from physical or psychological harm. 2. Assumption of Risk Engaging in our escape room activities involves inherent risks, including physical, emotional, and psychological risks. By participating, you agree to assume all such risks. It is your responsibility to be aware of your own physical limitations and to inform our staff of any pre-existing conditions that may require special accommodations. 3. Booking and Payment Booking Requirements: All bookings require a deposit or full payment in advance, subject to availability. Payment Methods: Payments can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or cash and Eft-Pos (on-site). Invoices: Invoices are available upon request by emailing booking@escapemate.co.nz. Payment Deadline: Payments must be made at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment, whenever possible. Gift Vouchers: Discounts from any vendors, including Escape Mate Gift Vouchers, GrabOne, TreatMe, and Entertainment Book, must be used before payment is made. We cannot issue refunds if a gift voucher is applied after payment. 4. Modifications and Cancellations Appointment Changes: You may modify your booking, but please notify us in writing at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled booking time. Please notify us promptly of any changes in team size, time, or date. Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the game will be refunded in full, minus a $10 cancellation fee. Cancellations within 48 hours of the game will not be refunded. For no-shows or cancellations due to late arrival (more than 30 minutes after the scheduled time), no refund will be issued and we will charge the remaining amount to the payment method on file. We will make every effort to accommodate last-minute changes within 48 hours, but availability is not guaranteed. Finalization: Final details (group size, arrival time, etc.) must be confirmed at least 48 hours before your appointment. No-Show Policy: If you arrive with fewer players than initially booked and we are not notified, we will charge for the full number of players originally booked. Additional members can be added and charged on-site. There will be no refunds for no-shows and full payment will be charged for all players that can’t attend. 5. Late Arrival If you are more than 15 minutes late, we cannot guarantee your full 60-minute game time. If you are more than 30 minutes late, your booking will be canceled, and no refund will be provided. 6. Age Restrictions The recommended minimum age for participation is 8 years. Children under 8 can join for free but must be supervised by an adult at all times. Some game elements may not be safe for young children to touch or handle. 7. Safety and Comfort Locked In: Ensure all team members are comfortable with being locked in. Main doors can be opened at any time, and emergency exits are available. Intoxication: Intoxicated participants will not be allowed to enter the escape rooms. Footwear: Closed-toed shoes are preferred; however, jandals/flip-flops are also acceptable. Footwear must be worn at all times in the escape room area. 8. Damage Policy Participants are liable for any repairs or replacements required due to damage caused during the game. 9. Security Cameras & Group Photos Security cameras are in operation for the safety and security of our customers and staff, including inside the escape rooms. By entering the premises, you consent to being recorded. All footage is securely stored and accessible only by authorized personnel. Recordings will not be shared with third parties unless required by law. If you have concerns regarding being recorded, please notify our staff before or during your visit. Group Photos At the end of your escape room experience, our staff will take a celebratory group photo to capture the moment. This photo may be uploaded to our social media channels and used for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to have your photo taken or published, please inform our staff. Alternatively, if you would prefer to receive the photo via email instead of it being posted online, kindly provide your email address to our staff, and we will be happy to send it to you. 10. Debt Collection Unpaid invoices may be pursued by third-party debt collection agencies. Late payments will result in a 10% extra fee, charged weekly until payment is made. 11. Management Rights Management reserves the right to refuse entry or make changes to bookings as necessary. 12. Group Bookings – Combined Game Option If you have a larger group (13 or more participants), you can reserve both the Spaceship and Ancient Temple escape rooms for the same time slot at no extra charge. Split your team between the two rooms for an exciting, competitive experience. 13. Special Occasions – Meeting Room Reservation For special occasions, you can reserve our meeting room for an hour at no additional cost. The meeting room is equipped with a kitchenette. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks, but please ensure the room is left tidy afterward. Contact us to make a booking. 14. Facilities Restrooms are available on-site. The meeting room is available upon request. Unfortunately, we do not have wheelchair access.
